Information for Contributors(Revised January 2006) Reviews of Modern Physics seeks comprehensive reviews as well as shorter colloquia in all areas of physics. For details, see author guidelines in the January issue or at http://rmp.aps.org/info/authors.html. Proposals should include an outline with the key citations. For regular reviews and colloquia, write to Reviews of Modern Physics, American Physical Society, 1 Research Road, Ridge, NY 11961-2701; email: rmp@aps.org. Length. There is a 50-page limit on the length of regular reviews and a 20-page limit on colloquia. One journal page equals approximately 1.5 typed, single-spaced pages or four figures. Refereeing. Submitted articles will be referred to one or more associate editors in appropriate fields. An initial decision will be made on the timeliness of the topic and breadth of appeal to our readership. Articles meeting these criteria are reviewed by outside referees who evaluate the scientific accuracy, balance, and clarity of the manuscript. Authors can expect some additional editing in the light of these referee reports before the final manuscript is accepted. Style and notation. The style of manuscripts should conform to that of the journal. Authors may obtain a copy of the Reviews of Modern Physics Style Guide at http://rmp.aps.org/files/rmpguide.pdf. Electronic submissions. We encourage authors to prepare their manuscripts as RevTeX compscripts. Those which meet our criteria can be typeset directly from the author's file. Initial submission may be a PDF file, as the source file is not needed until after refereeing. When sending the source file, send text and figures separately to rmptex@aps.org. Give figures filenames in this format: authorname_fig01.eps. Please do not send figure files in excess of 4 megabytes. Send a separate cover letter to rmptex@aps.org to advise us that you have submitted an electronic file or files. For more information on manuscript preparation, see http://rmp.aps.org/info/authors.html. Copyright. Submission is a representation that the article has not been published previously and is not currently submitted for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright to the American Physical Society will be sent to authors by the editorial office upon acceptance of an article. The statement must be signed and returned before the article can be put into production. Additional information on copyrights can be found at http://forms.aps.org/author/copyfaq.html. |
